I have "Extra-Terrestrial (E.T.)" friends, how about you?

In spite of conflicting stories and absence of concrete evidence, I still want to believe that there are extra-terrestrial beings out in space. The prospect of an encounter with a friendly alien fascinates me continually. My so called "love affair" with anything that has something to do with outer-space phenomenon started with E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, an American science fiction directed by Steven Spielberg and starred by the amiable and cuddly boy named Elliot (Henry Thomas). This 1982 movie tells a story of a homey and lonely boy who encountered and eventually made friendship with an stranded alien named E.T. In connivance with his siblings and against all odds, Elliot succeeded in keeping E.T. protected and hidden from searching authorities and his mother up to the time E.T. got rescued back to space. E.T. was a blockbuster and it went up on top of the billboard to beat Star Wars at that time. The thing that made me fall in love with E.T. is the friendship forged between Elliott and E.T. which was poignantly exhibited in many scenes in the movie and the most touching of them all is the moment E.T. pointed his glowing finger to Elliott's head and then tells Elliot, "I'll be right here" as he enters the spaceship for the return back to space. After E.T. of 1982, there were countless movies of the same genre that followed, some with friendly characters and others with not so friendly. But for me, I would love to go for the friendly ones. Who would want to be with unfriendly E.T. Scary isn't it? None could still beat-out E.T. out of my system. Nostalgia? yes maybe. But I think it has something to do more with the messages that E.T. conveyed; the values of loyalty, friendship, love and youthful innocence. Are there really Extra-Terrestrial (E.T.) beings out there? I don't know, but one thing I am pretty sure of, I have forged friendships with beings exhibiting the qualities of E.T. and Elliot. Are they from outer space? I wish they are, but who cares. "I'll be right here" E.T. once said. E.T. will remain in my head and in my heart to inspire.
