How do you monetize or make money from your website?

I have one established website that receives 1000+ visits every month and I heard that you can make money from your blog. There are many options out there to monetize a site but which is the best way, without causing a lot of discomfort from my visitors? Should I use banner or text ads? AdSense, BidVertiser, Infolinks, Kontera, AdHitz, etc.? What would you suggest?
