Why is legspin bowling so complicated?

I am a amateur leg spinner who has been practicing for 4 years now with inconsistent success. Despite the heavy practice i fail to perform. My friends seem to point out the problem but do not seem to understand the difficulty as it is a complex bowling style. but despite this i love legspin bowling for it is challenging and the joy you get when you get a batsman beaten is truly magical. Can you help me boost my 4 years of practice. I will give you links of videos i post on youtube.

Hi Legspinismylife2! Congrats for your love for Leg spin bowling! I used to bowl leg spin so I can understand how you feel. Especially I used enjoy getting batsmen bowled round the legs! And about improving: Leg spin asks for great control. You need to have good control and not get inconsistent in length and line. You observe any successful bowler they are more consistent than others. And every bowler is unique. So it depends on which style they want to acquire. Some are more daring and they do bowl flighted deliveries and challenge batsmen. They may go for runs at times but they are more likely to get wickets. Others are more defensive and they try to contain runs. But there will be some geniuses like Shane Warne who can do both. Anil Kumble was not an orthodox legspinner but his uniqueness was his speed and bounce. So try to develop your own unique style. And then include googly, flipper, topspin etc variations and use them judiciously. If you use something very often then batsmen will judge it easily so you have to deceive the batsmen! And of course, you need a regular coach who can see your progress and give tips and encouragement when you are low or out of form for a period. So always remember, never give up! And to be one of the best in the world, you need to practice more and more. And always try sticking to basic line and length. At the same time try adding variety and boldness in your deliveries. Remember, you need to have that attitude of champions! So cultivate it. Observe all the past champion bowlers and see their body language and how they react when things go wrong for them etc. And also try to read books and use technology to update your bowling regularly. And last thing, don't doubt yourself because someone says something. Never! Believe in yourself, even at the darkest period of time! All the Best! Happy mylotting!
