How do you display blog posts in summary view?

I keep a blog at Wordpress and I want my homepage to display only summaries/excerpts of my posts, not the full posts. I already selected "Summary" in the Reading pane of my Dashboard but the posts are still displayed as full. What should I do? Note: I don't have the software from Wordpress.org. I only use Wordpress.com.

"Summary" is for how much of your post is included when it's sent to someone's RSS feed. It has nothing to do with what is displayed on your blog. If you want only part of a post to show on the front page of the blog, you have to select it on the formatting bar. You put the cursor where you want to make the cut, then select the icon that looks like a small box above a larger box.

Thanks to both of you! I already found the button. However, it doesn't work on my blog. Because of the theme maybe? I'm using Coraline.

I'm glad you got it working. Other sites have the same feature but have different ways of using it. It's really useful when you have a very long post that's going to need a lot of scrolling. I like to keep a good number of posts on my front page, so I love that feature.
