If you are not sure, it might be better to get help from someone who knows. I am not sure if you bought a branded machine. Most branded machines come with recovery disks, you can just slot in the recovery disk to reset everything back to factory setting. To be sure on the actually method, check for the instructions on the support website or the documents that come with your computer. One of the challenges is not the actual reformatting but making sure you have all the required drivers afterwards, otherwise your speaker may not work, your wireless may not work etc. There is not enough information in your post for a more detailed instruction. Good luck.

It is very easy to reformat your hard disk. Firstly insert your Windows xp CD in your CD or DVD drive and then follow the instruction. And you may find an option s related to format the all hard drives and their drives are shown my name like C, D etc. So you can format then again.

Well, reformatting your harddisk could be the one of the best method in removing all the virus from your computer. But I wouldn't suggest in going for it not unless you have tried other options like installing a good viable anti-virus software. Kaspersky or Bitdefender are both good in removing viruses. Try them first. Remember to make a full scan more than once just to make sure. If you really have to reformat your harddisk then you must have a cd or dvd of an Operating system installer. You can reformat and erase everything using the cd or dvd. Good luck!
