We all know the old saying that an apple a day keep the doctor away. But does it have any truth now? I think not. According to me it can cause problem to our health. It is not because apple is bad. On an average apple is treated with pesticides 17 times at various stages of its growth. Some of this pesticides have neurotoxins which can affect our nervous system. Pesticides are also not soluble in water and hence cannot be easily removed. What do you think?

Well, I think the thought behind that saying is more that it is good for you to eat fruits and vegetables, and I do believe that is right. That is the way I have always interpreted this particular saying anyway. But you are right, pesticides is a problem these days. This is why I try to eat organic stuff instead. It also tastes much better!

Yes, an apple a day will keep the doctor away, if it is not treated with pesticides and harmful chemicals like you said. The problem is, how do we know which are not treated with chemicals?

All apple we brought from the market and most of other fruits are treated with pesticides. No need of doubt in that.

I agree with you totally. All the chemicals that are on our foods are horrible for us and are one of the major reasons for the huge increase in cancer and other diseases. Buying organic or growing your own fruit and vegetables is a great solution but sadly not always possible due to prices and location. I strongly believe our governments need to be banning the use of all chemicals on our foods.
