Do you believe that sleeping is like practicing your self as if you are dead?

Hello mylotters! My teacher said to me that if i sleep long hours such as 8 hours or more, It is just like that you are practicing as if you are dead or practicing to die. The reason of my teacher in telling that is, when you sleep long hours, you are not making use of your life in doing something to the fullest. Because if you are asleep, your whole body and your mind is relax and asleep too as if dead. You cannot hear when you are asleep, you are not using your mind when you are asleep, you are not aware of what is happening on your surroundings when you are asleep, you can just use sometimes your mind when you are asleep if you are dreaming but, all of us is not always dreaming every sleep we do. right? And my teacher also said that you can miss a big part of your life if you are always sleeping long hours especially sleeping again during day. So, the question is, do you believe that sleeping long hours is just like you are practicing to die? have a nice day to all! happy mylotting!

in my own opinion. i think your teachers opinion is ridiculous, not dissing him/her or anything. anyway, i therefore do not believe that sleeping is like practice dying or sumthing. on the contrary sleeping gives us life =)

I agree with you my friend! actually, i did not agree of what my teacher have said. But, maybe i don't understand my teacher's point. maybe her point is, sleeping very long hours is just missing a part of your life doing something instead of sleeping. But literally, not sleeping will make you sick.

Your teacher is an idiot. People have different needs for sleep. If you normally sleep eight or nine hours a night, it's because your body needs that much rest. You can train yourself to sleep less, but if you're not getting enough, you'll eventually feel it. You'll be physically tired, and much less alert and able to think clearly. If you cut back on your sleep to where you need to lie down during the day, or even take a nap, then cutting back hasn't done you a bit of good.

Hello to you! thank you for the info! Actually, that is what i'm thinking to myself why my teacher said that. Maybe that is the style and hobby of my teacher but i'm not agreeing with her style because it will make us feel sick and weak. right? So, i think we should sleep enough that our body needs. But it is also not good to sleep more than it.
