Did someone sell life insurance?

I mean under what circumstance would you willing to sell your life insurance? I saw some company do these ads on buying people's insurance. For instance, someone who owns a $100,000 insurance, that also depends on the age too. The price they willing to pay is around $2,000 or above. It also caught me thinking, are those companies legit, or simply scam. I guess people who would do that because they are so desperate of cash. I think they should ask those legitimate insurance companies for the appraisal of selling price and compare them before make the decision. Ultimately, if you need to sell the life insurance, just prayers that they won't sell assassins to kill you. Just kidding.
