Why wedding gowns are all white?

Hi careguarden! Well white gown in wedding is a good sign of virginity. And as a traditional way in getting married they use white for cleanliness, happiness and solemn wedding. But what I saw this past wedding some of the bride wears colorful gown and not really pure white. May be because the fashion is getting crazy and all people want to have a very nice gown and unique. Wearing a white gown is old fashion for me. But Ive seen a picture that white gown looks very elegant and not that old style like what Im thinking.
