Typhoon removed half of our roof in Isabela

As of now the typhoon Juan is currently ravaging northern Luzon. My brother in Isabela called and told me only half of our roof is intact. The other half was removed by strong winds already. I hope they're okay. I am now in Manila and I can do nothing but pray for my family. It is 10-hour bus ride going to my home in Isabela. Do you have relatives or friends in northern Luzon?

It's sad to hear stories like this. I hope your family in Isabela is safe. Perhaps they can arrange for some place to stay if the roof gets further damaged. But I hope and pray it won't come to that. I think the good think about typhoon Juan is that Pagasa gave us warnings days before this happened. I hope your family in the province was able to prepare for this. And I hope your local government too did every safety precaution possible in order to prevent further damage to your locality.

It's good the typhoon is now leaving the country. It is really big that its tail is still affecting us.

Too bad about your roof, at least your family is okay. The roof can be replaced, but not your family. Were they inside the house when the roof was blown away? I guess most of your things are now wet. I was a victim of Ondoy, and although we lost most of our possessions, I am still grateful to this day that nobody got hurt and nobody got sick because of that. Well, my brother stepped on a barbed wire and my cousin was bitten by his dog when he tried to move her to higher grounds, but at least no casualties. I can understand the feeling of helplessness that you are feeling now. My relatives were so worried that day because my mother was with us on top of the roof and exposed to the elements and she has a heart condition. But these are acts of nature and all we can do really is wait for it to get over. Keep a positive attitude, pray and you will get through this.

I have no contact with them yet since they last called to me. I guess they already moved to my aunt near them. Yep, this is an act of nature and all we can do is to keep a positive attitude. This thing will be over soon.

I do not know anyone in northern Luzon. When we were on our Alaskan Cruise there were a lot of Filipinos on board, but we really did not get into any conversation as to find out where they came from.

I am currently watching the news in GMA and ABS. The typhoon is so strong that it becomes scary for me. I am really afraid of typhoons.

I guess it is really strong. I can hear the wind blowing when my brother made a call to me. Hopefully they are all okay.

Yep, there's nothing we can do in times like this but to pray. I guess they also know what they're doing there right now.

I'm sorry to hear that. :( I hope your family is ok. I hope the devastation of Typhoon Juan ends soon. The Philippines needs a breather. We haven't even fully recovered from challenges that befell us a few months ago. We will include you and your family in our prayers.

When it is safe enough to travel to Isabela, go give your family help. Everything will be all right, you'll see. We'd be praying for everyone who had been hit by the typhoon. Keep safe!

I also had relatives in northern Luzon,i am a native of La Union and Baguio City. Now,i am also worried about them. One relative texted me that crops are damaged, some houses roofs are torn. Our ancient house is somehow safe, just dripping roofs but can be fixed when the storm is over. But my siblings who lives in Baguio is not responding to my texts. It might be the signal,or they run out of batteries (i just hope so) I'm a bit worried really...i hope they'll text me soon. Let's pray for our loved ones

We better pray for them. Yesterday I also texted my friends to pray for the people in Northern Luzon and my family. My family haven't texted me yet also since yesterday. I'm thinking of the same reaso: no signal or empty phone batteries.
