What does it take to be a hit in business? Luck, lots of money, contacts, favours or simple hard work. I confess I don't know the answer. The more I think about it the more confused I am. Do you have an answer?

Yes, a reliable and lucrative(most of them ask you to pay in dollars while they dole out in cents)business!!!!

I think you need:
a good idea
a good business plan
patience, because most businesses take a while to start
and you also need to be willing to work hard.
But of course, luck doesn't hurt either!

What you really need in order to succeed in a business is a solution -- a solution to the buying public's problem.
A solution which is better and more effective than any other existing product or service in the market.
Combine your solution with leadership competencies such as effective communication skills, patience, hard work, knowledge, determination, goals and visions, and you'll have your own winning formula.
The common myth is that you'll need lots of money but the truth is all you need is a lot of ideas and a lot of hard work -- but the again, they're more scarce than money.
Luck? I don't believe in such. Luck is being ready when opportunity knocks at your door.

A creative and ingenuous mind can make one succeed in business. I say creativity because nowadays people are more into things that are different and unique. They want a product that would help them be different from others or are distinct enough to create their own identity. Self-individualism is what it takes to succeed plus of course LUCK!
