I was knocking around online last night looking for a good program to color clip art with. (I'd love to get Photoshop, but can't afford it). and I found "Gimp". Its free and they say its as good as Photoshop. I tried it out last night and so far so good. It has tons of bells and whistles and looks good. Has anyone tried it? If so do you like it? How does it compare to photoshop? Thanks much! I look forward to your input! Have a great day!

I've been using photo impressions3, which works great but its extremely basic and I needed something far more advanced. gimp is definitely far more advanced and because of that it gets a bit confusing but after two nights of knocking around on it I am slowly figuring it out. For free, its definitely worth checking out.

I have only tried Gimp once when I tried to install linux on my pc years ago. But I'm a steady Windows OS user so I have no chance but to stick on a Windows based photo editing software. My friend is an avid Linux user and he use Gimp all the time. He always told me that Gimp is a great editing software to use and it is free! Now that's cool!

I use gimp in my work, since we don't have Photoshop and sometimes i need to edit images. I like the program, from all image edit program i think it is the best without any doubts, but sor sure it is not a photoshop, maybe i am used to the Adobe software.

Thanks much for the input! I got a trial of Photoshop a few months ago and it had so many bells and whistles I was confused in minutes! I found Gimp a little easier to work my way through. Maybe when I master Gimp I'll be more prepared for working with Photoshop. Have a wonderful day!

I don't like GIMP, for me is a little hard to use and a little confusing, the user interface is not so good, if you can't afford photoshop and need a powerful image editor try PAINT.net: http://www.getpaint.net Simply amazing, so powerful and the user interface is very similar to photoshop, it's the best free image editor I've ever tried. GIMP is good but personally I don't like it. Good luck.

I use GIMP to edit my pictures, too, because at first, I didn't have the money to purchase a copy of the Photoshop. I started with simple editing - cropping, resizing, a little sharpening... then as I started reading tutorials and watching videos, I have learned certain editing techniques. For a free software it did help me a lot, and I am loving GIMP very much.
