I have been playing Anno1777 for about a week now. At first when I seen the logo I was rather set back. The logo is very politically incorrect, but I decided to try the game any. While the premise of the game is to take and sell slaves, .... there is no color, or specific race involved.... once joining everyone becomes a slave to everyone else. I have really enjoyed playing the game, it is one that requires much thought, strategy and finance abilities. I have come to see that while the logo reflects a dark time in history, the true essence of the game is not race bound. There has been quite a bit controversy over the logo. Many sites on the net have started to ban ANNO1777 due to the logo. There is a grassroots movement out there to have the creators of ANNO1777 change the logo to something more politically correct. Do you avoid the game do to it's logo and what it implicates?

Maybe I'm a total idiot, but I have no idea what the logo indicates? I've been playing it for awhile obviously because I recruited you, but I never noticed anything strange about the game or the logo. Maybe I'm just not very observant, I guess?

The logo depicts Afro-Americans chained up by Caucasian men. This is reminiscent of slave trade among a number of nations during that era. This is why so many sites are banning Anno and there is such controversy.

When it comes to the different races of being enslaved, why would it matter. Going through history I would have to say EVERY race has been a slave in sometime or another in history. So why not get over it and enjoy what the site gives, a site that doesn't discriminate on race. Just a game to play. If this one is changed then there will be others that will have to change because it bothers this group or that group or what have you.. Who actually gains from all this is not us or you, its the attorney's and courts. Lets get real, we are all human. So tired of the discriminant card being played in every walk of life. Get over it, it happens, we humans are bound to try and control others, it is in history.. To bad it can't be changed. With all the rules and what not, has it changed? There is some form of control no matter what world you walk into. Its real its there. Best way to make it end is Don't be that way. I know I am not. We are human, Live together.

Firstly I am not a gamer so I won't comment on the actual game, however as for avoiding a game because of it's log and what other think it may represent is st@pid and silly. Lordy oh my this world certainly has it's priorities in the wrong places as what those who are banning it for what they feel the logo represents, should probably take a harder look at their own impressions as for someone to immediately assume it is racial is nuts as it is only a game. I can understand parental discretion perhaps but for a logo Good Grief.

I can agree with you. While being initially set back myself, I don't see that implication in the game at all. I think this world has become overly politically correct about many things. But that is only my view point and opinion. Although I can see how many would be offended by it and don't blame them at all if that is how they feel. Perhaps the creators of ANNO1777 can come up with something that everyone is able to pallet and accept.

Since there have been slaves of many races, perhaps there should just be people of many colors being chained up by people of many colors? After all, it's not as though the African race is the only race that has ever been enslaved. I understand your confusion, though, because it is something that happened in history. Acting as though it never happened would probably be more of an atrocity. It is quite like schools who ban "To Kill a Mockingbird" because it contains the "n-word." At that time in history, that word was commonly used, and was not an insult. So, the book is merely being historically correct. Furthermore, that book was ahead of its time as the entire book highlights the injustice of racism and portrays the (white) hero as noble because he fights against racism. So it is an anti-racist book, that is banned for being racist. What foolishness!
