I'm like a lot of guys when it comes to things breaking down. Even if I have no idea how to fix it I'll still want to try before asking for help. After all how are we to learn if we don't take a chance every now and then and try. For example last year our water pump broke on our only car and I had no idea how to fix it or how to get the parts or the car into town because we live really far out in the country. Well I manage to get my part and still no way to get the car to a mechanic so I did the next best thing and turned to the net!lol It only took a few minutes before I found what I needed on youtube. I watched the video and got my tools and in a few hours it was done. I was proud plus I saved myself probably another $300!lol So I'm wondering who out there is me and has a good or bad story to share?

We try to fix it ourselves and ask for advice on what to do. Usually hubby can handle small jobs. However, at the pace he's been taking to look at our dryer *shaking head* I wish I had the money for a repair man or replacement.

We saved ourselves and our landlord from having to buy a new washing machine the other day when my roommate figured out what was wrong with it. The agitator stopped spinning and we had no idea why. So he took it apart and saw that the chain on the motor had slipped off. He put it back on and it works. Not as well as it used to, we have to put each load through a double spin cycle, but it's better than having to buy a new one. We do what we can to fix anything that's broken around here, my roommate being a bit of a handyman has done much to help us out when we've needed to fix broken items at home. He's a genius when it comes to cars, he saved me hundreds by replacing the tie rod ends, when the mechanic wanted to replace the entire tie rod and charge me over $200 for it. Instead, for $30 labor and $50 in parts, I saved a bundle.
