An update on the 2 new cats

So the roommate decided to let the lady know about how her cats were doing... Hi this is V, Elic and I thought we'd send you an update on your babies. We kept them in Elic's room for the whole first week and let the others into the room in 1s or 2s so they could get used to them. There were, of course, some small altercations, but they were very minor - just pecking order stuff. Lotsa noise mostly, but that's passed now and everybody is happy. Patches still doesn't like the other cats and has nipped all three of us humans at one point or another. We've nicknamed her "Diva" She is usually found hanging out in my bedroom which is dark and quiet, but she also seems to like the windows in there and in the back of the kitchen quite a bit. I haven't seen her go out to the Playpen, but that's something she has to discover for herself. Mo seems to be adapting very well. He did have a little trouble getting in and out of the "playpen"at first - that door isn't quite big enough for him and while he got out easily enough, he didn't seem to be able to get back in. Don't know whether it was his weight or that one of the other cats was "guarding" the door - they do that sometimes. We opened another window and he's been going out there and basking in the sun. He's been doing fine on the Purina One - no vomiting at all. and he hasn't lost any weight yet, but we're keeping an eye on him. Elic's still offering the IAMS at night though. We had an 8 week old for two days last week - she got adopted by my boss almost as soon as she got here. Patches wouldn't have anything to do with her, but Mo played with her a bit. So, all is well and your babies are adapting well. Take care V To which the lady replied... Hello V thanks so…..much for the information on Mo and Patches. It’s good to hear that they are doing well; I really do miss them very much. Hope Patches will adjust here soon, and yeah! The name Diva fits her well. Thanks again and please keep me posted on them. Its always good to hear that she misses her babies...

Me too, I was worried about Diva/Patches there for a while. Mo is a pretty happy cat, if you don't touch the tummy!

It sounds like they left a loving home and found another one. You truly are a saint for saving all those sweet kittens. I love the name Diva! Seems better than Patches, although Patches isn't half bad. It is lovely that the lady wants to stay informed of her babies, even though she couldn't keep them.

Diva seems to be a better name than Patches. One of mine had diva ways, but he was a male. Can males be divas too? It is nice that she still wants to know how her babies are doing and that you let her know. Are you going to keep them or try and place them? Your name probably came up because everyone knows your a sucker for cats and that you would treat them well. There are so many people that mistreat their pets, it's too bad there aren't more like you.

well, we'll try to rehome them, but since they are 5, it will be very hard - the one thing that might help is that they were declawed - something I don't believe in, but some people want

Good luck finding them new homes. Most people seem to want kittens, but older people might want an older cat thinking it won't be as wild as some kittens can be.

what a great story! I have a "diva" too-her name is Cleo (short for Cleopatra. She is a long-haired main koon, mixed with something because she is small. She has black fur on the backs of her feet and legs, and then toms of fur everywhere else, and struts around the house like she is wearing stiletto boots. She has never lost her kitten face, and she is beautiful and knows it--and REFUSES to tolerate the new female kitten we have. Interestingly, she has tolerated and even enjoyed the company of all of the mail cats we have had. . .her new favorite is Muffin, our Tuxedo kitten--must be the classy attire he wears! Anyway, you are really incredible to take in two more cats, and to have the time to write about them so beautifully, too. Best of luck with them!

It's always good to know there are people like you who care for innocent animals! I can tell by the way you write about them that you love your kitties and I love people who share my love of cats, what can I say? Annie

I need to keep up with all this stuff, haha. It's really nice of you to keep in touch with that lady too. Kudo's to you! Anything new with the kittens down the street?

That's nice of you to send her updates about her kitties and the care they've received as well as the 8 week old kitten being adopted right away into a new home. And thanks for posting this as well, just in case we ever get that 4th cat how to introduce a new cat to a group of existing.

What a wonderful job you do with these kitties Elic! I like the name Diva and it is good to read a positive update and that everybody is settling in as they should! My new kitty Hewy still jumps on top of my older cat until she becomes really angry and hisses at him which is really quite against her nature!
