Hiya laglen, I suppose I must have "cheated" lots of time then because sometimes I used to let my Sons win the Games we were playing especially the younger one. Well that was really because it was very late sometimes and all I wanted to do was sleep and he did not and that was going on nearly half past one in the morning (just after midnight). Is that cheating could be I suppose. When I have done difficult Crosswords I have often looked up different comparisons is that cheating? After all I did not have the Solutions page to go to as it was a Competition you had to send it in to. Also after all they were in Spanish so that made it more awkward to grasp the right meaning as well. Reckon we all "cheat" on the quiet (grin) but who´s looking no one except yourself knows do they after all?

Hiya laglen, Yes right on. Because when I was playing all those Card Games with my younger Son and getting more sleepy by the Hour I kept cheating to make him win and see if he would go off to Bed happy and content. Sure did take a lot of convincing him (grin). Many many nights I have played that Game what´s it called you know where you sink the Boat. It´s a Board Game with pegs on it and the Ships cross each other and if you enter into their area you can get sunk. In Spain we call it "Hundir La Flota", but anyway I got all my Ships sunk on purpose a lot so he would go off laughing and singing to himself.

Using your definitions and examples, yes, I've cheated... But I wouldn't really consider letting my niece think she did a great job on her math homework (there were some errors) cheating. I've never cheated on an exam. I didn't let people copy my exams...I considered that cheating...and sometimes I lost "friends" over the deal. But were they really friends? Now, I've been taken by cheaters/liars on more than one occasion. Let's just say, I've been cheated a h*eck of alot more than I've cheated.

I dont think telling somebody they did a good job when there are mistakes cheating. We all make mistakes and what matters is if she did her best!

Good, because then I would have to keep "cheating". By the way, now she's (really, my great niece) doing extremely well and at the top of her class... I'd like to think it was because of the four months the kids lived with me, but I guess I'll have to give their Mom (my niece) some credit. Otherwise, I might be lying????

Cheating is not OK; it's about lies and misrepresentation and it's not good. It's a good habit NOT to get into.

In my opinion there is not a single person on this earth who has not cheated even once, many times we are bound to cheat, tell lie, may be to save ones life, ones prestige.. We have to exist and live in society any way.. Thank you so much for this detailed discussion. Professor. . Cheers God bless you.

Thank you professor I agree 100% I think it says a lot about a person that denies it. ya know they say wife beaters are liars, so the question is, "when did you stop beating your wife?"

Cheating is never ok and acceptable in any part of life..never ever. But because lots of people do it, many people don't think of it a s a big deal anymore. that's why the world is such a mess. If everyone was just honest in what they do, the world would be a better place.. Yeah, I've cheated in assignments and stuff.. but not in quizzes. Now i'm in college I see lots of my block mates cheat in exams as if it was nothing.. which really makes me angry because they are not taking school seriously

i cheat at EVERYTHING! well, no i don't. but if i did i would be a cheetah . i used to love marking exams where the brats, sorry my adorable students, had been cheating. you could easily tell, because two papers would have identical wrong answers on them.

Hello, Laglen. :) I am a sinner and I confess that I cheated a lot of times. I am not proud of it but I had done it... I pretended I had a boyfriend when I really don't have to avoid a suitir. I told my prof that I was sick when I skipped his class but the truth was I overslept.I told Mum that I was looking for a job somewhere in the province when the whole truth is I was having a date with my boyfriend. And there could be alot more... So many of them that it is too shameful to enumerate everything here... I am a self confess cheater....

This is really a good discussion. Well I believe that cheating in a relationship is very wrong. I believe that if you don't love that person anymore then you should let them know that instead of stringing them along and cheating on them. I've been cheated on before and it's not a very nice thing to go through. My ex husband cheated on me with my bridesmaid. I'm still very mad at him for what he did, but I have forgave him. Now for cheating on tests I did do that once. I do regret it though I wish I would have tried to do the test by myself instead of writing all the answers on my arm. I have two children and when they used to live with me I always let them win, but I don't consider that cheating at all.

I agree that the cheating in a relationship is awful. I do believe that letting kids win is dishonest but I am probably alone in that.

Cheating should never be seen as acceptable. When we cheat we lose merit to what we seek. There is no such thing as a little bit of cheating. Cheating is dishonest to yourself and to what you are trying to achieve. The end results don't bring satisfaction.

since you say that it is a moral question, i think cheating in any form or amount is unacceptable. when you cheat, you institutionalize a lie of which you are the first victim because you believe in it. :)
