What should I do to be a filial piety daughter?

I don't even know how to express. Perhaps "filial piety" can't be used exactly to describe that kind of traditional virtue of China. I just want to know the westerners' attitude towards the virtue. In China, a filial piety son should listen to his parents and do everything as his parents want him to do. How do you think of it? Because I have a problem now: I don't want to get married and I refused a man recently. I don't want to lose my life. But my parents are very worried and they even think I'm an unfilia girl. I wonder if I don't get married really means that I'm unfilia. What should I do? Please help me.

Irrespective of what culture you may belong to the best thing for you to do would be to put forth your reasoning in front of them and listen to theirs. You both must try to convince each other. If your reasoning is strong they might relent or you will have to give in to their wish.
