being the youngest daughter

i finished my bs in nursing and passed the board exam. i had my hospital training last two months ago. there was an offer for me to work abroad. i asked permission to my mom and dad. but my dad won't allow mo to go abroad. the reason he gave was i'm too young for that matter. do you think being the youngest daughter in the family is the reason why he didn't allow me? what do you think?

Hello. I think the fact of going abroad itself makes a lot of parents have doubts and worries and I think it's perfectly ok to feel that way. The reasons may include: being so far away to a place you never been to, they can't get to you quickly if something happens, and just generally worry for your well being and safety due to being far away from home. But the question is, do you really want to work abroad or you're more looking into because it was offered to you and you want to go right into the field? If nursing abroad is your thing and something you always wanted to do, you should take the opportunity as it does not come everyday. You should research the area of the offer and let them know more about the situation. Let them know about the pros and cons of going. If your dad still feel strongly about you going, maybe find a job as a nurse locally for a few years and go from there. Good luck and hopefully everything will be alright for you. Take care.

hello misztruong. thanks for the response. it gave me ideas. thanks a lot. i already told them about the workplace but still, my dad won't allow me. i just wanted to grab the opportunity since it only comes once. but then, i'm thinking maybe it's not for me as for the moment. i'll take your advice to find a job here and hopefully go abroad later on. take care also. and GOD bless us. :)
