A curriculum to make employers is needed rather than making employees

Hello all, Mostly, all the colleges & universities teach their students on how to become a good employee rather than becoming a future employer for the country. This is one thing really concerns me a lot. I strongly feel we need to have a curriculum exclusively for entrepreneurs and teach them about building an enterprise. Most of the students aspire to be a part of a Multinational and earn a six figured salary rather than building a an enterprise or a company. I am from India and I think worldwide more or less its the same situation with most of the universities. Let me know your opinions and and views. Thank you,

I believe that there are lines of work that still need many employees and yet there are many lines of work that really need employers. It seems as though the ecomonomy is so bad in so many places these days that it doesn't matter if you have a high school diploma or not, you are still struggling to find a job and I know many college kids who have a degree and can;t find a job.

The root cause is we do not have universities where the curriculum is focused on shaping up leaders. We a group of friends are working on this with some other entrepreneurs like us and had send our representations to some Universities to impart entrepreneur curriculum in MBA. We may start a new course on entrepreneurship where "Future leaders are made" in near future. Thank you Megamatt & carolcash for your opinions

That is really a problem in many senses, isn't it? There are many followers but not enough leaders. The problem is, there where there are some qualities that are good in forging future leaders, there are really not enough all of the time to really get the best qualities of leaders or employers. Of course, a good leader is the best employer, as they lead by example. I think that many places that I look at are a bit lacking. Some are pretty decent enough but there is not enough. There should be both options offered, with equal emphasis, so a person can figure out where they want to go. To have one that is focused over the other is really not going to lead to a good situation. In fact, it is just going to lead to a multitude of problems. People need to be encouraged in both ways and perhaps if there were people with good skills of creating their business, there would be a few more jobs to be had. Just a thought.
