Koobface, a plague that spreads via social networks and Windows that attacks since late 2008, is using Java technology to infect other systems based on Linux and Mac, according to information from antivirus vendor Intego. The user comes to malicious web page by following links in messages and posts on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. The messages typically promise a video. To see the "video", however, a user would accept the installation of a program, which is actually Koobface. Visiting a malicious website, the user receives a warning from Java requesting permission to run the application. It's the same trick used by criminals to spread Brazilian bank robbers passwords on infected sites.

Hello, thanks for the heads up on the virus/trojan. I use Facebook most days so I will be on the look out for this problem. It was good of you to give everyone a warning in advance of this irratating virus. Think I will update my anti-virus software as well. As should every other myLot member.
