What is an antivirus? An antivirus is a software that cleans your PC from viruses and trojans or other suspicious files. Most people would say that they are totally secure if they have an antivirus already or if there antivirus is on the top one spot of a certain PC magazine. But is it really true? Having an antivirus does not totally protect a user from viruses and trojans but it does minimize such self-replicating automatons and annoyances. Even though your antivirus belongs to the top 5 best antiviruses in the whole world, you are still not exempted from viruses because an antivirus is just a check list of viruses which she personally knows and that there are viruses which she doesn't detect but other antiviruses detect it. The best way to protect your computer is to download at your own risk, install anti spywares, scan for heuristics, scan your registry and look for suspicious files and upgrade everything in your pc.

Deciding a suitable anti virus program is very important, if you want to protect your computer and utilize it at maximum efficiency. The program that you select has to correspond to your computer habits and the manner in which you utilize your PC. Some people require only basic protection, while the ones having risky behavior should opt for a more expensive and certain software.

well, I didn't say that having a good antivirus is useless but what I'm trying to point out is that having it does not totally secure you because it is just like a check list. As an exploiter, i prefer to use Linux because it keeps me away from such annoyances except rootkits but I do have prevention tips for my linux about rootkits.
