I heard on the radio this morning on who is the most powerful person in the office. According to the announcer it wasn't the CEO or even the Finance manager. The most powerful person is the coffee lady. She is able to enter any room in the office. Also without her most of the staff in the office will not be able to keep awake and work. What about you? Who is the most powerful person in your office?

I think the boss in companies are the people who are working hard. Without them, or if they stop working and go against the company like what happened to PAL, well, the company is not going to be functioning and I think that is why those who are in high positions should take care of them.

The people are the ones that work hard but are they replaceable? If they can be easily replaced and business will not be impacted when they leave then they are just not that powerful. Thanks for sharing.

Well, what I mean here is a general thing. The employees in general. One reason why most companies today are accepting contract workers only is because they wanted to avoid Unions that may form inside the company. They know that if such thing happens, the company's labor will be delayed and affected. Individually, there is really not that much impact unless you are one of the major employees of your company. But if you're a big loser for the company, then firing you is such a privilege for them.

Well for me since i own my business so i'm the most powerful person at all. But if i will see it in a different way, i would say the most powerful person in my business are my people. If without them there's nothing at all. They are the one who really works (in terms of physical work) 'coz since my business involves a farm, gym and a shop most of the work here is not paper works instead those in needs of great physical ability. For the paper works, meetings and even making coffee (for myself) i do it myself.

I think the most powerful person is one that is so indispensable that you can't do without. As an owner of your own business does everything depend on you? If so then you have a problem, you can't take time off and go for vacation! Thank for the feedback.

Hehehehe this is just a joke right? Well if the CEO is not powerful enough to fire her if she committed a mistake or company violation then she is really powerful! Aside from the CEO, the most powerful person in a company is the Human Resource Manager. He or she will be the one who can hire you or also mess up with your profile.

Yup, it is a joke. In the case of the radio announcer, he said that they had grown so dependent on the lady that even the manager did not dare to scold the coffee lady.

That's funny and ultimately true. I think the most powerful person at my work is the guy who cleans the offices and bathroom. Second only to the IT guy whom we will gladly let in to do anything as long as he gets us up and running again.
