10-year-old Mom In Spain

I just saw a story on MSNBC's website about this. A 10 year old Romanian girl gave birth last week in Spain. Officials there are making sure the living conditions are suitable for both the mother and child, and looking into when the girl arrived as she had not sought medical care until going into labor. Apparently she is a Romanian gypsy and her mother is delighted about her new grandchild and really doesn't understand the fuss. Now, I know cultural differences are a reality, and in their culture the girls marry very young, but a 10 yr old mom? That does not seem safe to me, and is truthfully very disturbing to me as the mother of two young girls. The father is also very young at 13 years old. What are your thoughts on this situation?

Thank you, not a lot of people heard of this it seems. This is newsworthy and shouldn't be just swept under a rug in my opinion. Maybe if a light was shown on this their own country would stop turning a blind eye to the people following this gypsy culture marrying off their young children!
