can you work without being friends with your workmates?

i am now transitioned into a new role...and i would be working with new set of people. my first goal is to be friends with these people who i will be working with. in my 8 years of working, i believe that the relationship we have with out workmates would be very very important so that we would be able to love and enjoy our work. even if the salary is not that high, if we enjoy what we do because the people around us love us, then we will feel satisfied.
if i will not have a harmonious relationship with them, i dont think i can last in that job.

Absolutely! Agree with you! Without a harmonious relationship at work, life there can be tough and depressing. It pays to make friends and work in a team at the workplace as we spend a lot of time there as well, apart from home. Sometimes the workplace is just like a second home. So it's always worth making it as comfortable as possible.

totally agree..it's our second home....so we can not stand the whole day just being alone... and not talking to somebody else...

For me, I think you can still work even if your not friends with your workmates. However, it would be very hard on your part and i don't think you can stay long in your job. A harmonious and successful working relationship requires a good teamwork which implies that you are in good relationship with your workmates.

No I can not work without being friends with my workmate because I'm a friendly type. I believe maintaining a harmonious relationship with the people in the work place is one way of being productive too. We need each other. Wherever you go, the term 'no man is an is an allied' is always applicable. And in fact, it's really not necessary to be 'friends or close friends' with them or with all of them, what really important is to maintain a harmonious relationship with each of them to create a harmonious work place. The word friend has a deeper sense, but it's really better if you can make it. You have to reach them out if possible. Thank you.

Well for me its difficult without interacting or building relationship with your workmates.But if you believed in what you are,I think I suggest that we have to adjust in our environment.
