I've heard that australians have a different accent compared to the American and British english. Since I'm planning to apply for a job in Autralia, I want to be more versed and familiar with their accent. I'm thinking that it would be helpful if I watch Australian shows and movies. However, i still want to know if you have any better suggestions for me on how to go about with this. Do you have better ideas on how i could better learn this in a less time-consuming and fun way?..

the easiest way to learn one's accent is when you talk to a person with that nationality. it really works for me though. ;)

Well preppydezza, I think that would be one of the best things that I can do to improve. But considering that I'm not yet in Australia, I think I'll use my available resources to learn their accent. Thank you so much.

i live in australia for the past 6 and a half years already and i can say that their english accent is not that hard to learn... the first time i come here, yes i do have some problem listening to their english accent... but after some times, i am alright... just build up your courage to speak more with the australian people and watch lots of australian movies as well... that should help you to improve your australian english accent and it is fun as well... good luck... take care and have a nice day...

hello lingli. That is one of the problems that I'm anticipating if ever my plans of working there would push through. I want to at least prepare myself that's why I've asked for other people's suggestions. I still have to work on my self confidence if that's the case that I need to speak with these foreigners. I think I also won't have any choice by then but to interact with Australians by the time that I'll have my work. Anyways, thanks for the advice.

The english is not my mother tongue but I translate movies so I have an idea about that. For me the australian accent is close to the irish speaking. But the most amazing thing about the australian is the wealth of idioms and slang! They make this language really colourful and at the same time difficult. I remember a movie - "The nugget" which is a good example of this. You may try and find it, it is a good comedie with brilliant actors. Maybe this is a fun way to learn the australian.

Same here fannitia, english is not my first language. But i've been learning english since I was a kid. Now I'm aware that they really use a lot of slang words. Thank you for the information. I'll try to find that movie if I have spare time.
