first fetal heart monitoring experience

It was my 3rd time to see my OB doctor and she told me She'll check the heart beat of my baby inside my belly. As she was trying to search for the locaton of the heart all I could hear is gurgling sound and a swishishing sound. After a few seconds there it was..fast heart bbeat of my little one. It was an amazing experience that I got teary eyed. Has anyone of you experienced the same thing? Or you had a different one?

There is a gadget that you can buy for listening to your baby's heart beat. I've seen it in a magazine at my doctor's clinic. It works like a portable cd player. You put headphones on and attach the device to your stomach. I think its really cool but I could'nt find it in the stores. Maybe you can try searching online.

I've had three children so I've got to experience hearing that first heartbeat 3 times. I think with all three kids the first time they checked they weren't able to hear the heartbeat right away because I wasn't far enough along. So I had that hope I would hear it and then had to wait till my next appointment. It is pretty neat to hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time and to see in during your ultrasound.
