Why has Google and Twitter joined forces..

Is it just me or is it when you go to google to do a search for something, not only do you get the ususal search results, but, now at the bottome of the page you get live updates from Twitter on people talking about the same or similar subject. When did this start ? Is it just me ? am I imagining this ? Doesnt work for me, what do fellow myLotters think ?
