class recitation makes me nervous

I remember my school life, overwhelming schedule and the cramming period. But I can't forget the class recitation, why I always been called in questions I didn't knew the answer? When I'm so nervous because I have no idea about the answer, my teacher will suddenly spit out my name! Oh no again! But when I'm confident enough to answer, the questions are not intended for me anymore. That's why I don't like recitation that much, I prefer written exam instead... How about you? Do you like recitation than written exam?

Hi Pink We never had this recitation thing at the school on a regular basis. Yes there were times when they had this but I wasnt a good student and was always a last bencher. So they never cared about putting me at the helm. Later after I started my professional career - I realized how important it was to participate in such discussions because they inculcate in you the habit and overcome the fear of speaking in public. I learned it the hard way but you can still try out with it. Cheers, theSids.

Hello thesids! Yes hopefully it's not yet too late for me to learn and try, ^_^! For sure I will be needing that skill one time for different activities. Thank you very much for responding!

Sure... They say it is never too late to learn anything useful and you should give it a chance... maybe you would fall in love with it once you start off. Best of luck dear. Cheers, theSids.

I love reciting in class, but I'm very reluctant. I never really liked recitation anyway, unless it's discussion. I'll just raise my hand if I want to contribute to something or if I what I know adds to what we're already learning. I don't like class recitations when the teacher asks questions like in a quiz. I'd rather have a conversation. But when it comes to exams, I'd rather have it written than oral :)

Hello redmaryjane! A cheerful conversation that needs practical answer is much more interesting than asking you difficult questions that needs to be answered correctly based from the book. Yes, most of the time written exam is an advantage for me than oral. Thank you for answering. ^_^

Like you, I also prefer written exams because I also can't think straight when I'm talking in front of my classmates. I don't like oral recitations, but they are needed so I've got to bear with it for the moment..I hope we get better at it.

I can relate. I despise recitation because am not good in expressing my thoughts verbally. Everytime I was called, my mind would either freeze or gets blank and all I could do was show off my nice smile (wink). Recitations just really scares the hell out of me. I'm mesmerize to those who could really express themselves verbally and fluently. I don't have the knack for this. But make me write or take written exams then I could be at par with those who were good in recitations.

Those were the days. I could fall from my seat whenever I was called. The fast palpitation sometimes make me feel that I can't even breathe like it's some horror film you're watching. Funny, isn't it? And you were right, I'd rather write a thousand article than stand still and look like a statue for not being able to know the answer.

I am with you on that one, I never liked the teacher calling out your name and you are just praying that they don't. I think teachers knew when you did not know the answers, cause if you knew the answer you would just look into their face. Like I said I would like to take the written exam also.

Yes during my school day recitation is the one I hated, I never cover because I'm always in frond of the class. During such recitation going-out is not allowed for everybody.. so everybody felt fear and trimbling.. lol ... see you around

Well it depends. If I studied my very well and ready before going to school, of course I prefer to recite rather than take a exam. When I was studying I like to have more recitation than take a written one because I could voice out my opinion better. Most of the time I hate written exam specially if its right minus wrong or if I see some of my classmate who are cheating. That is why I prefer an oral exam rather than a written one
