Are you traveling somewhere for Thanksgiving?

This year, in a complete break from tradition, we are going on vacation for Thanksgiving instead of staying home and eating. Usually we have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with our families (I usually do most of the cooking), but this year we will be in Aruba! We got a great deal on tickets and accommodations and it is actually going to be quite inexpensive. And so warm and relaxing! It will be nice to enjoy such a wonderful trip with just my husband and kids, and not have to spend days and days cooking and cleaning. I suppose next year we will go back to celebrating Thanksgiving in the more traditional way. Then again, maybe this will become our new tradition! How about you--any exciting travel plans this Thanksgiving?

Our Thanksgiving plans are the same every year. We get up and have a light breakfast with the kids. Then we drive to my grandmother's house for lunch. She makes a turkey and all the fixings and we all sit around her dining room table and eat. Then we visit for a little bit and grab some dessert before we head out the door. From there we go to my husband's grandmother's house to visit with his side of the family. Then we head home and relax for the rest of the evening.

A very nice way to celebrate Thanksgiving. That's how ours used to be before my husband and I lost our parents, but now it's not quite the same, so I figured a trick to Aruba would spice up our turkey day! Have a wonderful holiday!

I live in Europe and visited the United States in November when I was 29 years old. I was in California at the time of there day of Thanksgiving. I stayed at the youth hostel in Santa Cruz. Thanksgiving is an American tradition that is very popular for most American people I have noticed. I hope that you will have a wonderful time this thanksgiving.

Aruba is a favorite of mine for vacations. Everytime I am tired or moody, I think about Aruba and the day fills with sun. I hope that your trip to Aruba was as wonderful as mine have been. I am going again in March.
