Dogs are usually the pet choice of most people. Like what other people say, "dogs are man's best friend". We treat them as part of our family; we feed them, bathe them, dress them up, play with them, even sleep with them, and so on. Dogs have been a wonderful companion over the years. Today, dogs are treated not only as pets, they also serve other roles in our society. Dogs are now being trained for security purposes like those bomb-sniffing dogs, search and rescue dogs, cadaver dogs, and the like. They are even recognized not just in the area of law-enforcement but also in the medical field. Animal assisted therapy or use of certified therapy animals as part of a therapy or treatment plan has emerged. Animals especially dogs have been viewed to have therapeutic abilities. They are brought in different hospitals, nursing homes, children's homes, etc. to help patients facilitate recovery. Personally, I believe dogs have therapeutic abilities. I support the mission and vision of this animal assisted therapy. How about you fellow mylotters, do you think dogs can be used for therapy? Do they really have therapeutic abilities? Do you want to become a part of the therapy team with your dog if ever? =)

Oh yes, I definitely think they do. If I am not mistaken, there is even a lot of research that proves that....

It's good to have a back up research especially in new health treatments for it to be more accepted or recognized by the society. =)

Honestly, I really do think that they can be used for therapy. Whenever I don't feel to good, and my dog is around, I start talking to her or something and she just helps me feel better. For one reason or another, my dog has a way of making myself and my husband better and I do think that this is true for most, if not all, dogs.

I also talk to our dogs here at home whenever I feel depressed or lonely or alone. Others may think it's kind of silly but it's true that it really helps. I feel like they really listen and feel that somethings not right, they have a different approach when I'm sad or problematic. They're really sensitive and sweet dogs. I feel better whenever they're around. =)
