Our children loves toy, playing around, house animal, pets and most the children loves very much watching TV. There are many channels on TV offers educational shows but most of the channels offers cartoon shows, movies and others. What do you think those shows on TV really helps on our children for their future, for their study or all not totally helps instead they teaching immoral things. What are your views in this regard.. No I can't imagine TV really helping unless it's like the Discovery Channel or History Channel. I don't like much of the tv shows even made by Disney lately. I don't really think they have any good ideas to present to kids nowadays.

My children really love to watch tv especially on cable. I do believe that most cartoons don't show good values to our kids. But as a fulltime mother I see to it that I check the kind of cartoons my children watch. I already told them the kind of cartoons that they can watch only. As parents, we have to have the authority over our kids even on watching tv.

hello friend, Again, there is always an advantage and disadvantage in watching tv. There are channels/program that teaches a lot like "National GEOGRAPHIC" one also is the program "AUSTRALIA" (only few cable company carries this program) it's really educational,it talks not all about Australia but also with some medical knowledge. With our local channels, people are so crazy with telenova (sorry for those fanatics, but i don't watched those ones ) Instead of teaching their kids to watch other educational program, you can see the whole family watching it (again, sorry for the telenova fanatic) I can say that it's really entertaining though, and i do understand that it's people's one way of unloading stress. So,there is an advantage and disadvantage in everything. Have a great Sunday friend

If the show that your kids are watching is for children then I think it could help but if you allow them to watch those for adults then it would not. Also kids should not be allowed to watch television shows alone if it need parental guidance. As a parent, if you are watching this kind of show, should be there to tell them what to do and what not to do as a kid so that the kids would not be mislead.

I think Sesame Street is the best educational show. They say Dora the Explorer is a learning show, but I don't really know about that.

I just find TV a source of entertainment for the kids. Even me had fallen under its influence when I was a teenager. Watching cartoons after doing an assignment help reduce stress and learning from TV is always a joy. The drama/romance series stir a child's emotions and may develop feelings of love earlier than later. What's negative with TV is maybe that it show violent scenes that should not be seen at all. Just as it shape the child to have good behavior it can do the opposite and make the child follow each thing negative like saying bad words until the worst like hostage taking, and other crimes. My word is that to get the best out of TV children must choose wisely which they are going to watch and forget anything else.

it has negative effects but it also has nice effects. it can make children smarter. when they watch educational programs such as natgeo, discover and history. it makes them aware to the reality of the world. and it gives them pleasure and entertainment.

Yes. I think it is helpful for children depending on the age bracket. It may help enhance and develop their brain. If this develops into a bad habit, then it's a big NO-NO! Anyway, there is always sides og the coin. There are advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages I think is when the child easily develops motor skill(because they learn how to dance) listening and speaking skills are being developed through watching T.V. On the other hsnd, one of the disadvantages if the child might be over exposed in the radiation of the television. Talking about the immoral thing, it is always the responsibility of the parents to sit beside their children to monitor and see to it that their children are only watching quality t.v. programs and not the non-sense.

In my opinion, TV could be somewhat of a help when it comes to learning English and other foreign languages. My cousin actually learned how to speak (with matching accent LOL) English from American shows. Consequently, he also learned how to cuss and say stuff children shouldn't be saying. There are also a lot of shows on TV where they talk about history, folklore, news, and the like that would help educate us. HOWEVER everything should still be monitored by the parents. There would be times when they would not be able to understand things and might need an adult to explain to them. I also think that you should moderate the time spent watching TV. There are some children who is stuck on the TV most of the time and forget how it is to play outside and enjoy the company of other children. I also suggest that no TV should be placed in the dining room and the child's room.

I would like to add that all activities should be well balanced and well controlled by adults specially towards their children. There are lot of things children can learn watching educational shows, entertainment etc but outdoor play, mixing with other children, gardening, helping parents in outdoor work, shopping etc are also important aspects of childrens' development.

I think television helps in subtle ways. Television helps by entertaining children and widening their imagination and ideas by exposing them to different things and 'snippets of life.' Of course, there is no denial that some programs are not really suitable for children but there are also programs that are child-friendly. It is up to the parents or guardians to make sure on what kind of content that the children are exposed to.

I think now a days TV can help to grow lots of hidden talents in a child. When I was a kid, that time only cartoon channels were there for the kids. And my mother disliked it. So very less no of time, I used to enjoy fully watching cartoons. But now a days POGO, Hungama channel are having lot of educational shows. I have seen a prgram called "MAD" in POGO. From this show, kids can learn lot of art works and scientific tricks which they can try at home also. so I think its a real fun for them to enjoy the art work and the same point of time, they can learn the practical use of science.
