Mayor asked to step down

Canada
November 17, 2010 4:14pm CST
Two provincial ministers said they received an envelope filled with money from a certain mayor here. Of course, the mayor says its not true. The provincial prime minister asked the mayor to step down while the police are investigating and that he believes what the two ministers are saying!! This all while three other mayors have stepped down because of fraud accusations, our provincial prime minister is himself the target of a petition asking he steps down because he wont instigate an investigation on the construction industry. They say the mafia is running the construction industry and the prime minister is part of it and knows about it. Do you think that so much corruption going on is possible or is there something else going on?

Believe there is more of a story, because money is payed as a thank you for a product or service. This mayor might have other issues going on in which he's forced to pay by cash in order to block all records. Who knows if there is an underground business in town, and each of the people he gives money to have 10 other people working to promote the business. The ministers have done a good deed in that they turned over someone who did obscure and unlawful business. Corrupting the world is illegal, and it gets worse when provincial ministers take part in it.

You're right, who knows whats going on with that mayor. All I know is that he's been in office for 21 yrs I think. Some say the elections are fixed, some say most of the people dont give a damn anymore and dont bother to vote.....its true!! Not the first provincial ministers to accuse others of fraud. About 2 months ago we had one accuse the provincial prime minister of fraud. They had an investigation and we still dont know what will happen. Even the judges are bought now. Sad when it gets to this. Thank you!

I don't know enough about how Canada operates but perhaps it is best that he stepped down during the investigation to keep him out of the lime light so to speak. I cannot say if I always believe the entire "the mafia is running it" sort of propaganda. I sometimes think people say that when they don't want to admit that someone they trusted may not have been very trustworthy. As far as the ministers, it's hard to say. Perhaps this mayor voted against things they wanted or such. Mud slinging, accusations, etc are nothing new in terms of politics. I have to wonder if it is that this mayor simply gave a donation of his own monies and they are now trying to put a spin on it. Namaste-Anora

I've had one too many of these corruption incidences that i don't know what's true and what's not anymore. I'm giving up on them and just label them all corrupt as long as i don't know who they are. It's unfair, i know but corruption is unfair too.

You're right, we just dont know who to trust anymore, so much so that it seems that everybody is not wanting to pay attention anymore. We need a real change in governments and how they do things. Thanks!
