My aunt and I were discussing school options for my annoying cousin when I remembered that there was a notion in the earlier years to extend the years of schooling here in the Philippines. As all of you know, we have 10 years of basic education (6 years grade school and 4 years of high school). Do you think we should revamp our education system and follow other countries who extend their school years?

The common thinking is that Filipinos are intelligent so a longer way to graduation will not be that hurtful or inconvenient. One of the advantages I see is that the graduates under the said education system will be hired in an instant.

However, with the shifting trends in employment, it is not enough to graduate. We too many people with good credentials and educational background but still cannot be hired or hired without utilizing their strengths or their education.
