hi all, just want to ask if stamp collecting is a dead hobby, I remember the time when people my age joined hobby clubs in grade school and stamp collecting would only place second to coin collecting. with the advent of the computer and internet age is the hobby dying? With the fast transfer of information, many young people today rely on email and text messages to get message thru instead of conventional mail , most young people today have seen stamps but really don't care.Stamps are important because it show cases a nation's culture but all that can now be all searched in the internet. Do you think stamp collecting is a dead hobby? Give me your opinion.

Now that you mentioned it! I just remembered me and my sis have an album of stamps which is nowhere to be found! Come to think about it, the last time I removed a stamp from the envelope was years ago! Really love those days where it's so exciting receiving snail mails and then tallying the stamp on the envelope with our collection. Now that most of the stuffs can be done via the internet and with the stamp collection album hidden somewhere, it's really seems to be moving towards the end of stamps collection for me.

It could be! I only know of one stamp collector. He is my grandfather. And I don't think he collects that much anymore.

Actually, that is my hobby too during my college days. But I agre with you. Nowadays, there are lots of things that arised to collect and seems that stamp collection has been forgotten. Probably there are still some people who had it as collection.

I don't think stamp collecting is a bad habit. hehe, i still held many stamps. i like them. yes, it is a fact that many people don't use the conventional letters. but we know that postal service is everywhere. In a long time, no one can replace them. collecting is a good hobby. you can see many cultures from the past to modern time.

I guess so, I rarely hear of people who do it anymore. But I knew tons of people who did it when I was a kid. So I suppose you are right... What a shame though! It is quite a lovely hobby and I used to do it too, as a kid, to be honest. I do not know where my collection is now though... (I had quite a big one, even)

Stamp collection is one of the interesting hobby especially for school children. It was my main hobby when i was child. I lost this interest when i became adult. Collecting stamps and keeping them in the stamp albums give children a particular kind of enjoyment. Recently my child also started this hobby.

well its been a while since i heard people talking about stamp collecting. my uncle used to do it, he has an album of thousands of stamps he's been collecting while he was still young. with today's generation, youth may not be that enthusiast to choose stamp collecting as a hobby, first and foremost, posts are getting much fewer ever since birth of email or the net to be exact.
