Although stress can cause hair fall, our hair is like our skin that naturally and continously shed. It is but natural to shed 50 or more strands a day so maybe this is what we see sometimes when we brush unlike skin that is microscopic. Other factors also cause hair to fall like age, heredity, dundruff ,fungi and parasites, medication and the general well being of your body.

The best way to relieve stress is to find something that can make you feel relax. In my case I discovered that gardening can help me relieve stress. Find you own hobby or you can meditate or exercise. If you don't get a lot of sleep, when you wake up try exercising so you won't feel dragged the whole day. Try using very light shampoos like baby shampoos or clear shampoos, because the chemicals in shampoo can also trigger the hair fall.

They say stress can cause your hair to fall out but I don't know how true it is. I have never experienced this myself but I do know of a woman and a child who have alopecia they have spurts of hair loss due to stress ect. You may want to look into this and or ask your Dr.
