what is apo/fpo?

what is apo/fpo? when i want to buy something on ebay there is often note wich says: we dont ship to apo/fpo ...but what is that ,i dont think it is country or address then what it is?

APO/FPO is military bases address. For instance an address for US military bases on Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
