Firefox by itself does not take much of RAM . some of its extensions may be taking a little more RAM . one can disable the unnecessary extensions . And one may use fasterfox extension which tweaks some settings in Firefox !

oh i am afraid it does in some case even to 100 MB, it doesn't release the meomory that it in longer uses, if u turn of your PC or restart it everytime u won't notice it cause the whole RAM gets erased during the process visit for more info on that, but there is a fix for it no worries, but i still say the best Browser is Opera no problem so far and it has so many features. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Memory_Leak

if i am not mistaken FireFox has a meomory leakage, when u watch videos for e.g. on youtube it doesn't erase it after u close the page and it stays on the RAM, they fixed the problem by releasing a update, i think that is what the problem is , if u want to a great browser u should try Opera it is the best i have seen better than firefox in my opinion
