I have a star with a number 8 in it and I think it means level 8, am I right? But I am wondering how myLot grade us? Up to now I have only posted around 230 posts, but I see people with more 3000 posts also only have the 8 level. So I am a little confused how myLot grade us and what's the function of these levels? Will myLot give us more money for our posts if we have a higher level?

It is not myLot who gives us the reputation. The reputation comes from other users ratings. Every discussion/comment/response/photo has a + and a - next to them. If users find that activity usefull, they can rate it positively. If that activity doesn't bring any good to myLot comunity, they can rate it negatively. So the reputation shows how a user's activity is seen by other myLotters. You can read more about myLot reputation in the FAQs: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx#3 There are voices who say that a higher reputation can help one earn more, but nobody can tell this for sure, because the myLot earning algorithm is not known to users, and we are not supposed to talk about it.

I wouldnt exactly know but I believe it's some sort of peer rating system, I think other people rate your comments and the star gives an overall rating of your comments based on said ratings. In a nutshell higher the better, and it actually shows seeing that people will low stars usually don't bring anything of value to discussions.
