Are people just born with extraordinary abilities, or their environment help groom them into exceptional people.I wonder whether the adage that says: "All fingers are not equal" applies to mental abilities too.

I think it's a little bit of both. If you are born smart or with special skills, and you are in an environment that will encourage those skills, then you will surpass your potential. You can also be born smart, and live in an that is not nurturing or encouraging and your talents will not flourish as they should. It is said; after all, that humans only use 10% of their brain.

Yes, I agree that we are not equally "gifted". There are people who no matter what cannot learn and others who no matter what they do, cannot be good sportsmen or other things. So I think geniuses are born, and they have to be properly trained to become really special. Haven't you never seen a little child who had extraordinary abilities, even from a young age? This means that they are born with those special abilities, and they can be considered natural geniuses. There are also those geniuses which are developed, but they need far more training and learning than the natural born geniuses to reach their level.

I think geniuses are born. It has something to do with having a very high intelligence quotient, although there are geniuses who wastes their skills. I'd rather be smart than genius, which i am, cuz smart people are more dependable, which i am. :)

Geniuses are born. Grooming can only bring you to a certain level. The level wont qualify one to be a genius. Just that some are great in science while another in arts.

Yes people are born geniuses and others are made into one. Some people are geniuses become of their genes which makes things easy for them. There are people who are not born geniuses and never will be one, but when you look at them they do well at school, those people are called hard workers.
