Do you talk while eating or you talk after eating?

The topic tells it all, but I wanted to clarify my question better...In my culture, talking while eating is a taboo. No one is allowed to talk while eating. Only after eating then we are allowed to talk to each other...I just wanted to know this issue from the other culture...Does it wrong to talk while you are eating? Or is it just an orthodox taboo?

I imagine some cultures frown upon talking while eating, but in our society it's one of the times where we are able to catch up on every ones day. The dinner table is where a lot of communication takes place. It is ill mannered though to ask someone a question while their mouth is full. I like to turn the tv off, and use that time to converse with my children, both during and after the meal.

That is very interesting. Yes, different cultures have different ethics and practises. For us here, talking while eating is not objected, though ofcourse we do not want to disturb other people while the are enjoying their meals. This is a courtesy.
