Should there be a winter break in England?

Twenty six (so far) postponements in the football league, including one in the premiership due to the big freeze. Is it time to bring in a winter break, especially in the lower leagues?

This has been argued for the longest time. While there are match postponed due to the freeze, but having a winter break will means more match being played in the latter stages of the season. It will mean more tired players.

plugster1974, I am sure you will agree with me that the current weather phenomena is not a usual occurrence to warrant a call for a winter break which is more needed in eastern Europe. I believe this is probably a first for say - many decades? I hope that our environment will improve with time. One where we will slow down with our exploitations with mother nature. Have a nice weekend.

Am not liking this at all! We are closely following up are favorite teams and if all teams are not going to play their marches, it becomes very difficult to know who is on top of the league. I think rather than postpone, they should relocate to Africa were winter is not an issue.

It would be difficult as the lower leagues play more games as there are more teams in their division. The discussions were to bring it in around christmas if they were having a break so it would not be for another 3 weeks anyway.

I consider that in every place on the world it should be at least two weeks of winter break, as far as soccer is concerned. In the period of Christmas the people are looking forward to meet with their relatives and want to have some relaxed days with their families. And I think football players think the same. So I think that it should be very good for the English FA to implement a sort of winter break in the Premier League as well.
