Can material prosperity alone enrich life?

People in the western countries are richer and materially prosperous than the people of many Asian and African countries. Can material richness bestow contentment,happiness and peace of mind?But neither poverty can give you all these. It is the understanding of life and spiritual unfoldment that will truly enrich one's life. Spirituality must be cultivated in the heart of a person seeking contentment and fulfillment of life. What are your viewpoints? What does serve to make one's life enriched and fulfilled?

I think people are apt to be more happy and have more peace of mind if they are financially sound and know where their next meals is coming from. All of that. I don't think we have to be rich to be happy. Just not have to feel the anxiety of not having what you need. I think people's lives are enriched and fullfilled when they see their children and children's children do well and be happy.
