Do you enjoy living by yourself?

December 12, 2010 9:13am CST
This past two weeks I have had the house to myself and I have loved it. I used to live on my own for about 3 years so Im very comfortable being on my own, however some of my friends have said that they wouldnt like to have the house to themselves as they would be afraid. Do you get afraid when you live on your own?

Its a good thing you atleast enjoy cooking. lol im the kind of person who doesn't know how to cook, and doesn't want to try either

Hahaha, just make sure you live near lots of takeaways and make sure you buy a microwave. You can do almost anything in a microwave these days lol!!

Thats what I enjoy about having the house to myself, Im not the best cook but when your on your own you can practise cooking on your own without having to worry about other people telling you the way to do it. So you can come up with your own style and try out new recipes. And if you cant be bothered to cook you can always do something on toast lol!

I liked living alone and now I have my children. I didn't feel afraid when I live on my own. I liked having the house to myself. If two people share a house one might go to bed early and the other one late. The other one would have to be careful not to wake the one that is asleep. If a person that lives alone is lonely he or she could get a dog. A dog is a best friend and makes a loving house companion.

True dogs are great companions, although I have to admit I would be useless looking after a dog, I love animals but also love to give them back to their owners. I am ok when living alone but can understand how some people may get lonely.

In the past when I was single, I lived alone and I enjoyed it. I could do whatever I liked and nobody would bother me. I could focus to do something by myself. Of course sometimes there would be disadvantages. Such as when you felt sad, it would be terrible to be alone since you needed someone who could comfort you. But most of the time I was fine. I was not afraid to live alone in a big house. I love China

Yeah there are good parts and bad parts, although most of the parts are good lol! I was never afraid although some people I know say that they would be too afraid on their own. Thank you for your response, I appreciate it!

Well, I've never really lived on my own per se. I've always shared an apartment with my husband. However, there have been times when he's away for a week, or something, and I've had the apartment to myself. And I have to admit that I enjoyed having the apartment to myself. It was sort like living on my own, and it was nice. Even when living with my parents, I liked having the house to myself. It's always been something that I like.

Ive always said that if I get married I would like to buy two houses next door to each other, so that we could have time away whenever we want. I do hear from some people that after living with someone for a while that they dont like it when the other person goes away. So its good that you dont feel lonely when he has to go somewhere.

I enjoy sending time by myself, but I dont want to be alone. I would never really want to live alone. My youngest two children are ages 10 and 11 and once they graduate and leave home, I may not have an option. I am not afraid of being by myself in a house. Sometimes, I just look forward to the quiet.

With a 10 and 11 year old no wonder you look for to getting a bit of quiet time, I can imagine you probably dont get much peace and quiet!

I have lived by myself before. i find that I am happier about life when I have others around me. Living alone would not be my favorite path in life. I am not afraid to live alone, but it would not be my ideal choice.

Well at least you know you would be able to cope if you did need to live alone. Thank you for your response!

Alone - LIving life alone
I love to do things on my own. As contributor, I want to be alone to think things out of the box. Living alone is fine with me only if I'm abroad. But if my family is living in the same country as me, I would rather to be with them than to stay alone. Because being alone is quite lonely especially when you are in need of someone to talk to, someone that you can trust. Besides, if you are, living alone, when you are sick, there's no one to take care of you but yourself, you're not always looking forward to come home because nobody is waiting for you and sometimes, going home without somebody whose excited that you come home giving you some hugs and kisses to ease you're very tiring day of work.

So you would miss your family atmosphere? I think the only time I missed living with people was when I was ill! Thank you for your response!

I am not exactly living by myself but I do experience the responsibilities of living alone. The transition, of course, is not smooth and my routine changed dramatically. I wasn't really afraid of living on my own but I have some nasty shocks before I finally settled in. Also, there are some perspectives that changed since my transition and I hoped that all of these is for the best.

I hope you have settled in now!

As I'm a teen, I mean I'm 16 years old, so I live with my mom, and sometimes it's stressing to live with her, and I really enjoy when I have the house all for me. When my mom is at home, I have to sleep early, eat just in the "eating hours", and this isn't what I like sometimes. For example, if I don't need to sleep yet, and I'm alone at home, I can do anything I want. But, if my mom is at home, I have to go to bed before a certain hour. That's what annoys me.
14 Dec 10
Yeah I remember having a sleep time, I will say that although I enjoy living alone it is a lot cheaper to live at home lol! Dont worry my mother was like this as well when I was younger, it does get easier as you get older!

I'am not afraid of being alone but it would be nice if someone who fills our daily lives, because they are living alone is hard and we even feel lonely all day. I suggest you to find friends who can accompany you throughout the day.
12 Dec 10
I dont find living alone to be lonely, I did it for 3 years with no problems, there's nothing better than having your own space. I take it you dont want to live on your own, thank you for your response.

Sometimes. Due to supernatural stuffs or such. But basically I love it as I get to keep everything to myself. My bro went to a cruise for a few days and I got the whole comp to myself and now he comes back u'll hear all the whine from him.
13 Dec 10
Supernatural stuff? In your house? You got me wondering now! I love having the place to myself as well!
