Commenting on your food

Just last week, i was at a food stall at the cafetaria placing my food order. When my food came, the stall owner asked me if i would like to have anything else like sauces or other ingredients on my food. When i had made my choices of sauces and ingredients, the stall owner went ahead to comply to my choices. The lady behind me in the queue passed some comments on my choice of food and the additions i had on them to the stall holder. She spoke in a language spoken by the majority of the population from where i'm. She had obviously thought that i do not understand the language. Fortunately or unfortunately, i understood her comments. The comments were of course not nice ones but sacarstic. I felt irritated and slightly embarrassed as others at the stall were looking at me. I chose not to tell her off as i did not want to create a scene there. Why can't some folks just mind their own food? Has anyone had similar experiences before? If so, how did you react?

I just usually ignore these people who do side comments on what I buy or order. They're just a pain in the backside. But you did the right thing, ignore and not say anything back because you just proved you're a way better person that she is. And people would just say "Ah that old lady is a mean person to say something like that but she probably is old and gone bonkers so who cares what she says." I myself would just ignore those kinds of people. They're not worth arguing over at something like food. To me, my motto when I'm out is "mind your own business" so I don't let these people affect me if they give sarcastic mean remarks behind me. It's just not worth your time.

sounds like she said it to make herself look big and you small. I tink if you had said something in her own language to let her know you understood the language it would have been a different story and she would have been the one who felt embarrassed, on the other hand someone like that just wants to have a moan!

Actually i did thought of retorting in her own language. But on second thoughts, I felt that she was certainly not worth it to get into an argument.

Hi RamJey, nice to see a fellow citizen here. Alright so, where did that happen? I've not come across such weird people before and it's really rude to comment on other people's choices. Do they have too much time on their hands at the moment? Why don't they just mind their own business and queue up? I really don't know what to say about these weird people, but you did the right thing. Don't make a scene and make your day bad. Take those people as some jokers sent down by Heaven. Forget about them and you'll be happier.

I would have been upset to and I probably would have said something maybe depending on the situation and if I was in a bad mood or not, But then again I don't ever cause scenes unless it was something to an extreme that was uncalled for.So i'm thinking maybe I would not have said anything.

No, I think that is really weird! Why would they care about what you eat? These people really should mind their own business, like you said. I can't understand why they would even be interested in what others eat.

Absolutely! It's really weird. Looks like it takes all kinds of people to make the world.
