I just realized I'm allergic to cats. Does this sometimes happen in the middle of your life? Its so weird. I was never allergic then one day I got terribley itchy eyes and started sneezing non-stop when i was around my grandma's cat. Then he passed away and it started again with my boyfriends cat. The other night it was so bad I was weezing and couldn't get a good breath.

Its possible that you may have developed a new Allergy, however more then likely youve always been allergic. My wife and I have two cats even though she is allergic to their pet dander, we have found that bathing them once every few weeks and keeping the litterbox cleaned very regularly, and vacuuming areas where the cats spend a lot of time regularly keeps her allergies from acting up too badly. You also may want to think about seeing a doctor to have an allergy test done to make sure that its the cat thats causing your allergic reaction. A doctor may also be able to suggest a good allergy medication that can help you in this situation. My wife for instance takes the Dollar General Generic Claritin and that works very well for her when her allergies do flair up. I hope this helps, have a nice day.

I do am allergic to cats. Although I've been allergic for as long as I remember, I think that it does happen to become allergic to something later on in life. It might not happen very often, but I'm sure it does happen from time to time.

When I was a child I had cats in my family. I often sneezed and had wheezing problems. I had a rabbit and my sister had a guinea Pig. I had some gerbils. I had no idea that I wads allergic to fur. When I was 16 years old I lived in a halls of residence in the week and at the weekend I went home. Well at home the sneezing, wheezing and irritated eyes were terrible. Then all week at college I felt 100% well without any of these bothersome problems. I have sorted my problem now about having pets because I love animals. I found out I wouldn't be allergic to non-moulting dogs so I bought two miniature poodle dogs. If I got a cat it would have to be a Cornish Rex cat. I am totally happy with having my two pet dogs. I am not planning to get a cat but I remember with fondness the cats I had and other pets in my childhood. Good luck with your allergies.
