Tacking a mobile from a PC?????????

Im from sri lanka. on one of my friend's mobile that was possible to trace using the google maps.then it showed the exact place where he was.but i need to know wheather there is any other way to trace a mobile from a computer.but it seems not available in google latitude.please suggest me any ideas........thanx.
