Is it really possible to earn money from youtube?

I am trying to earn money from youtube. Is it really possible ?,Is any one tried youtube to earn money? But I have lot of confusion about how to start,How can we promote our videos in youtube.I can see many recent videos have more views when compared to older videos how they get promoted. what I have to do to promote my videos.

In order to make money from YouTube from your videos, you need to become a YouTube Partner. I believe there are requirements to become a partner (Required Age: 18, Minimum Subscribers: 500, Each Video needs to have at least 5k views, etc.). After you get accepted, you are paid a dollar for every 2500 views a video receives, $.05 for every subscriber you get, and some commission for every channel view that you get.
