Do you treat everyone fairly, why or why not?

Even though racism doesn't exist anymore, there are many people who are racist. Are you one of them? I try to treat everyone equally because I believe everyone is the same in the inside we just all look differently but there are people who just don't consider everyone the same. Honestly, everyone were once immigrants unless they were Native Americans so I don't understand why people think they're better than another... I always come across rude people especially my neighbors who are American. I was born and raised her in the US and that makes me "American" but I still have my heritage/culture Vietnamese so I speak to my parents in Vietnamese even though they understand English and my neighbor was like "It's America, learn English".. I was like I don't care, why don't you learn my language, at least I learned another language besides English and she shut up. I've actually came across many times where people are just rude, have you? Share your views.

Yes I share your views. Although racism has gone on the paper it still exists in our minds. Racism is just not the ethnic divide or the color of the skin divide, it exists even in the same ethnic community and the biggest divide today is rich and poor divide. Human being must be born racist and finds the way to divide itself. In India the racism exists in the form of castism. Although it has vanished on paper it still exists in minds of people it may take centuries before it is vanished fully. As for me I don't believe in all these divides. I belive all human beings are creation of same god and created equal and should be treated that way.

Well,to treat everyone fairly is not an easy thing at all,i think, not just because some people are racist or something else, but people different in so many aspects:from outlooking to inner heart, some looks like a nice person just from the first sight, while maybe another person looks like a bad guy from outside. Then how can we treat everyone fairly? Generally speaking,we tent to be kind to the weak one,the kids and the olders. And most of us don't have too much sympathy for evil-looking guys.Of course, there maybe some disguise, some kind looking person maybe a demon, while a bad-looking person maybe have a gloden heart. So there is a saying goes:don't judge a person from the outside. But no matter how,i think it is impossible to treat everyone fairly. Here i not mean racist or something like that.

Well yeah you can judge a person but you can't judge that person as the entire society of that nationally. For instance, if someone assumes the african American guy is bad and perhaps he is doesn't mean all African American people are. I understand if you judge individuals but you can't judge an entire population based on a few people.

Yeah little bit hard to treat all people in fairly specially your are born asian. But if they see that you are sincere and honest they will treat you fair but not all things - that is I observed also specially American and British... see you around

aprilsong, I understand where you are coming from, but I wonder what an 'evil looking' person looks like in your opinion. That right there is the problem. People either make generalizations or are too afraid of what they doen't understand. That is why this world is divided. Someone else commented about people being 'born racist'. That is pretty hard to believe. Children don't know about such trivial things like skin color or cultural differences..its their parents and/or society that puts that in their head.

Hi, You should have asked where from they came to the now America? Were not they all immigrants mostly from Europe? What they have done to the native people of America? Do they realize that? It is not silly but equally unethical too.

I do my best to treat everyone fairly, but I'm quite aware I sometimes fail to do so. I honestly don't think it's possible. I mean we're only human and, as such, we make mistakes. Plus, what seems like fair behavior to someone, might be seen as rude or mean by somebody else. However, a racist I am not, and I don't discriminate against people based on where they come from or the color of their skin. I couldn't live with myself if I did.

In general there is only nationality differences this place that I born and bred so I have never met with that matter you have said.I think no matter what national or ethnic origin,we should respect each other.Don't forget that we all live in a global village.

I agree we should respect everyones heritage nationality and what not however yeah people judge people based on their actions but you can't base that on the entire population.. I mean think about criminals, there's all sorts of races not just one but in society people always points to one race as the majority... Unfair!

I would like to say that you are wrong on one point racism still exist it is not practice on a grand scale but it does exist usualy in small areas also in other countries the United states Racism Problem is not like it use to be but as a person of color i still see it going on. Not only by White on Black it happens black on black (Revers racism) and black on others and Hispanic's on white and others. im glad it is not as blatant as it use to be however you still see it in the south Georgia and Alabama areas and it is completely obvious whith the signs still hanging up in some towns. Also people in general needs to stop thinking that they are better than others the only one that i know of who can state that he is better than anyone else was Jesus Christ but he did not do it. I would like to say that im not racist and think that im better than anyone else i try to learn some other languages from other countries i have visited or the people i have met it may only be a few words but i make an effort and i think that people should try to make an effort to see what is is like in another persons shoes maybe they would appreciate other peoples value.

I don't have racism problem, but I don't like the rude people, especially asked others do something as per their opinion, which can't be accepted easily. If the rude people treated me rudly,I couldn't make sure I will be polite to treat them also. That's not fair for those rude people to treat others like that.

When I read your discussion i remember the movie Grand Torino (Clint Easwood) with a little bit same scanrio of language barrier. Anyway since then most of American like that they think their blood are diffirent from other country specially asian countries. I expereinced here in my worked before when American are all managers but asian people are all lower position, so there is racial discrimination for me. but not all american there are few that fair to everyone... see you around
