Hi friends. i was thinking about starting a topic like WHO IS THE WORST BOWLER IN THIS SERIES? considering some bowlers under-performed. so we narrow it down to harris. eventhough Tsotsobe got 3 wickets,he never troubled batsmen but the thing is he got wickets. at the start of the series,Harris said i dont mind being the bowler who stops the run flow at the other end. sure his other bowlers got wickets but he wasn't exactly very economical or getting wickets. why he is still in the team? i heard that the young left arm quickie who performed well in T20s and ODI's is available. why not use him?

Looking at the pitches at South Africa, selection of Harris into the playing 11 is little baffling. However most captains prefer a spinner in test squads, just to keep them going from one end & rotate strike bowlers from other end. In the second innings of first test, Tsotsombe was just unable to stem the flow of runs, in such situations harris has served his team well. Smith will not drop harris unless the pitch is expected to be fast & bouncy for the entire 5 days !

I think Harris balled very well in 2nd innings of 1st test. In first innings he was not required to be balled as Indian innings folded up in just 38.4 overs. In second innings Harris took two wickets one of them being the most critical wicket of Sehwag Who could have single handedly managed to turn the match upside down. He managed to keep the Indian batsman comparatively quiet in that match where he balled 30 overs five of them maiden giving out just 88 runs at the rate of 2.93. Even in the second innings of second test he took 1 wicket of 14 overs giving out 36 runs fairly O.K.. The performance of Harris even prompted captain Smith to taunt Harbhajan that even Harris balled better than him.

Yea you are absolutely right. I never see chris harris fitting into south african team. Rather he is a burden on the south african team. As you said he told that he dont mind to stop the runs at the other end, but i don't think that he has stopped runs infact the other bowlers were more economical than chris harris. So i think he should not play the next match. Happy mylotting. Regards, harry.
