my house was broken in! what if i didn't send my dog away

i used to have a doggy. he is smart and active. he would greet us everytime we came back from work. he is also understanding and considerate boy because he never barked in the evening. but the only problem is he didn't know how to pee and poo in the appionted place. my mom couldn't bear the crap and stink any more so we finally agreed to send him away to my relative. at the second day of this new year, my house was broken in by some stealers.they took away two of my laptops i think if we have a dog at home maybe the bad men won't come into the house for the threaten of the dog. i really miss that little guy.

hello mini, sad to know that, i think if you have a dog it the looters will hesitate to break your house, hope it will not happen again and you can get a dog just put them on training :) have a nice day!

Yes with persistence, commitment and patience a dog can be trained to do just about anything you want them too. I had someone come into my place unauthorized. My six pound Yorkie was home alone. Thank the good Lords, they did not take her. Although she developed separation anxiety again as a result. Have no idea what happened when I was not here and someone came in but she obviously didn't like it. IT is funny that I have come across your discussion tonight because just today we were speaking of securing an area. That we need a building on the property in order to install security cameras. I mentioned get a doberman. Dogs can be a fabulous deterrent although if the thief has a weapon it could mean trouble for the innocent pooch who is just trying to do his job. I think that the best way to secure a home is by way of using an alarm company such as Alarm Force. That way the police department is alerted right away. This enables the home owner a piece of mind when they are at work or on vacation. Another good means of protection is a neighbor. I had a break and enter into an apartment I rented. I had it armed so the alarm alerted my neighbor who new my schedule and knew that I had an alarm. Since the alarm was not turning off my neighbor went out into the hall to inspect. The thief came out and my neighbor knew he was not suppose to be there. The neighbor chased the thief down the hall and outside and held him until the police arrived. The guy was wanted on other stuff too so went directly to jail.

oh,yes! i totally agree with you. i just told my colleagues about this things. and they also recommended me to use this kind of alarm. i will go buy one. we are get along well with my neighbors. but you know, sometimes we just can't be aware of the action of the burglar if he is a professional one.once my neighbor downstairs was stolen and i was just in the opposite room playing computer. i didn't know anything happen until the cop came. by the way, i think the property management should take some responsibility! this things happened to many other neighbors. what do we pay them for? thanks for your help!

You are welcome mini and thank you for the friend request as well. I agree that management ought to take some action for security devices. To be ignorant of the need is to me neglect. Sometimes it is better to just take a proactive approach yourself, regardless of what management are doing. It can be a very unsettling event when your place is broken into. I get the creeps wondering who it was and if I see this person passing me by when I am out walking or grocery shopping and such. Eerie feeling. Hope that you are okay.

I have four dogs and I never worry about burglars. They do make good home protection. It's a shame you had to give yours away. Training them where to use the bathroom takes time and can be aggravating at times. Maybe someday you can get another one and have better luck with it.
